Supernatural Ripped off the Vampire Diaries, But Here's who did it better.
Supernatural has become one of the most iconic shows in Television history, with a fifteen season run and multiple pieces of media (Books, Animations, Comics) spawning from it. However every good thing has to come to an end and earlier this year Supernatural took its final bow. However as its final season came to a close, the cast and the crew had to deal with the Covid 19 Pandemic and it lead to multiple issues. So when the final episode did air, many fans found it underwhelming. However, while those fans complained about the rushed ending, and the lack of notable characters, I found a very different issue. An issue that deeply disappointed me. This is how Supernatural copied the Vampire Diaries ending and ultimately did it worse.
The Road So Far :
The first thing you would notice about the final episode of
Supernatural is that it did not have a road so far segment. While that bothered
me, what bothered me more came somewhere in the middle of the episode. In the
Vampire Diaries, We lost Stefan Salvatore close to the end the episode. We also
lost Dean in Supernatural. After the death of
these characters, both shows go on to explain how there counterparts go on
living without them. Both Damon Salvatore and Sam get married, which their brothers
find peace in the after life. As both finales come to a close, the person left alive
dies of old age and meets with their brother in heaven for a final hug. The similarities
are very close and we can easily tell that Supernaturals ending was completely ripped
off from the Vampire Diaries. So in this situation there is only one question we
can ask.
Who Did it better :
There is no contest here, The Vampire Diaries did it much better. While Supernaturals ending was a small contained
episode that just showed us the brothers. The Vampire Diaries finale was huge, it
brought together an ensemble cast to face of against an enemy that has been haunting
them from the first episode. Katherine Pierce was a foe that surpassed most others.
The Vampire Diaries Finale also successfully setup up the shows second Spinoff “The
Legacies”.
I will completely acknowledge that Supernatural had a whole lot
of challenges in it’s final few episodes. However we cannot not be objective. So
in this case we have to come to peace with the Fact that Supernatural ripped off
the Vampire Diaries and it did it worse. What do you think of these
observations, tell me in the comments section and follow for more scathing news,
as it happens.
