The Supernatural Western Spinoff : Here's everything we know.
As beloved and iconic as Supernatural is, from it’s spot on cast to it’s emotional lessons on family, and it’s iconic settings and storylines. There has one place the show has always failed in. That being in creating a successor. Supernatural has now made two attempts at creating a spinoff.
The first being “Bloodlines”, which was supposed to be a show that focused on a Romeo and Juliet type of story while monster factions warred in the background.
The second being Wayward Sisters, an amalgamation of female characters
from throughout the series, coming together to face of against an unknown enemy.
However now, as lead actor Jensen Ackles takes a stab at a third
spinoff “The Winchester’s”, which many fans are not really happy about. We at Regenerate
Media have uncovered information on another spinoff that no one knew about. This
is the Supernatural Western Spinoff, and everything we know about it.
Western Spinoff :
Late in Season one, Supernatural viewers are introduced to The
Colt. An important weapon that plays many roles throughout the show. Through narration
we find out that Samuel Colt built the weapon in the eighteen hundreds, and that
it can kill anything (except for a few godlike beings). Later in a time travel episode
in season six, we meet Samuel Colt.
The idea for a western Spinoff started among the crew of Supernatural
sometime in season three. This is something that they would often talk about. The
spinoff would be a western show set in the eighteen hundreds and would follow Samuel
Colt and a group of other hunters who went after monster on horseback. The show
would follow these hunters as they went from town to town, helping them deal with
their problems.
It would also provide backstory to the creation of the Colt,
monster that have gone extinct and the pentacle made out of train tracks that surrounds
the devil’s gates. However the show was never made, and this is why.
Why it never left development :
There was several reasons the show was never made. However the
most obvious is that it was too similar to the current Supernatural. As Supernatural
is basically a modern day western. Other reasons attributing to it never being developed
is that it would only appeal to Supernatural fans and western fans and may have
failed to draw in a never audience. Finally, in it’s third season, Supernatural
didn’t have the cult status that it does now and the writes may have believed that
Supernatural wasn’t famous enough for it’s own spinoff.
Sadly it seems like we may never get the western Spinoff. However
of the Winchester’s does well, than the studio may have enough faith on the show
to do other Spinoffs and maybe even start a Supernatural shared universe. Fingers
crossed that we get that, until than we will just keep rewatching the fifteen seasons
we have. What do you think of these Spinoffs. Tell me in the comments section keep
checking back for more Supernatural news.
